A number of reported terrorist attacks in Paris, France, have left over 140 people dead, with French president François Hollande declaring a state of emergency.

Over 100 people had been killed at the Bataclan concert venue, with shooting also reported at at least 6 other places including cafe Le Carillon and near Stade de France, where France had just played Germany in an international friendly.

French President François Hollande issued an emergency decree in a midnight address to the nation. Hollande said he has closed France’s borders and restricted travel internally. Military reinforcements have been called into Paris, he said. All Paris residents have been ordered to stay indoors for the first time since 1944.

Over 1,500 military personnel have been deployed around the city, with the residents asked to stay indoors.
Hollande, speaking at the Bataclan after the incident, said the attackers would be fought “without mercy”.

The attacks have drawn international sympathy, with #ParisAttacks and #PrayForParis trending on social media.
