Since  Britain’s Queen Victoria and Prince Albert decorated a tree as part of their holiday celebrations at Windsor Castle in the Christmas 1848, the christmas tree has become very popular around the world.

It has since become  a common sight in homes and city centers around the world, serving as cheery and bright reminders of the Yuletide season.

This year’s tree, a 90-year-old Lutz Spruce standing 74 feet tall and weighing 6,400 pounds, was harvested from the Chugach National Forest in Alaska and transported 4,400 miles to Washington, where it was erected on the west side of the U.S. Capitol building.
