There was drama at a Federal High Court in Abuja on December 23, when Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra pirate radio station and a leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement said he preferred to be detained because he had no confidence in the court.

He said:

“I will not sacrifice the due process of the law founded in the principles of natural justice upon the altar of speedy release from detention. In other words I will rather remain in detention than subjecting myself to a trial that I know amounts to perversion of justice.

“Previous court judgments and rulings have been delivered by competent court of laws in Nigeria in my favour which the Department of the State Security Service failed to obey or implement. On that premise, I am not ready to stand before this court for trial because I am convinced that the outcome will go the way of the previous ones. Therefore, I have chosen to remain in custody until justice prevails in my matter in the interest of justice.”

The presiding Judge Ahmed Mohammed then withdrew from the case following Kanu’s objection.

The fresh case against Kanu was filed on Friday, barely 24 hours after another judge of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, Justice Adeniyi Ademola ordered Kanu’s unconditional release from the custody of the Department of State Service.

Justice Ademola had ordered the DSS to release Kanu unconditionally since there was no pending charges against him.

But instead of releasing him, the Federal Government filed fresh charges against him on Friday.

Ómó Ósàn lò nkò pònpó bà ìyà É!!! the knuckle is head putting his mother under enormous stress…

I’m loving the suspense and the new directions this drama is going, the DSS keep adding new plot to the story. The plan from the beginning is to frustrate him, and I think with the latest developments, they’re almost there.

    Astounding!!!

No Mrs Grundy, this administration is wise to incarcerate the man. He is trying to cause division between the igbo’s and Nigerian government. The bible says “a house that is divided will not stand”. We have a big chunk of igbo’s in the Nigerian army presently facing boko, if the man’s antic works, they will see themselves as biafran soldiers thus deserting the army. The Nigerian army cannot fight boko and control biafra wannabe’s at the moment, and yoruba adage says “ati kekere la ti n pa eka iroko”….. So handling him before he causes a bigger problem is the best solution.
