‪And now  Usain Bolt the worlds fastest man and greatest sprinter of all time has won his third consecutive gold in the 100metres at RIO 2016.✅

The 29 year old sprint legend emerged victorious against American Justin Gatlin to win his third successive gold medal in the 100m final race on Sunday night, running the track in 9.81 seconds.

Gatlin who won the event at the 2004 Olympics finished in 9.89 seconds, taking home the silver medal while Andre De Grasse of Canada nabbed the bronze. To put his remarkable feat in perspective, Bolt is the first man to win two consecutive golds in the 100m, and now he’s won three!

It was an epic sprint for the line and midway Gatlin appeared to have got the better of Bolt.
But Bolt picked up and raced to the finish line ahead of Gatlin, edging his name in the books of athletics history once and for all.

Speaking on his performance Bolt said:

‘It was brilliant, but I didn’t go so fast but I’m so happy I won. I told you guys I was going to do it.’

Bolt is now just two races away from completing the ‘triple triple’ and winning three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

‘Somebody said I can become immortal,’ Bolt said after the race on Sunday. ‘Two more medals to go and I can sign off. Immortal.’ He added.

Accomplished athlete and  400 meter world record holder Michael Johnson has spoken on Bolt’s victory. He said;

“That was a fantastic performance by Usain Bolt, he slowed down and said ‘I’ve got this’. It wasn’t about the time, it was just about winning the gold and going out on top. I didn’t expect the race to unfold the way it did.

“Gatlin got a great start but it was always within Usain Bolt’s reach because he is healthy. He has been an amazing ambassador for this sport and in creating a brand for himself and the Jamaican athletes.

What makes Bolt special is not just his pace or the fact that he is the ultimate champion, it is the fact the he also ultimate showman, who knows how to entertain the crowd even in the face of immense pressure to deliver.

Big congrats to Usain ‘the lightening bolt’,  greatest sprinter to have ever lived. What a fine moment moment for athletics and way to bow out!

    The king arrived, said he do it yet again, and he delivered, shame on those who ever doubted that the king would deliver, let us all bow down to greatness.
