Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss was cancelled

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan opened the show by informing Alexa Bliss that Becky Lynch would not be able to compete Sunday night, and that her title match against Lynch was postponed to November 8th on SmackDown.

AJ Styles pins John Cena to retain the WWE World Championship

WWE switched up the formula by opening the main card with the main event of the evening (prior to the presidential debate), and the top three stars on SmackDown delivered an excellent match that featured a wild finish. AJ Styles tapped out to a double submission from Cena and Ambrose, but since there was no clear winner the referee ordered that the match should continue. Cena hit a massive Attitude Adjustment on Ambrose off the turnbuckle, but Styles hit Cena with a chair shot (there’s no disqualifications in Triple Threat matches) and pinned the 15-time champ to keep his title.

Nikki Bella defeats Carmella

Nikki Bella refused to tap out to Carmella’s submission finisher (the Code of Silence), and won after hitting a Rack Attack.

Rhyno and Heath Slater defeat The Usos to retain the SmackDown Tag Championship

The tag titles match was one of the best of the night, and the team of Heath Slater and Rhyno kept the belts after Rhyno hit a Gore to end the match.

Baron Corbin defeats Jack Swagger

Corbin escaped from an ankle lock by controversially grabbing the apron and pulling it into the ring (which somehow counted as a rope break), then gouged Swagger’s eyes to set up the End of Days.

Dolph Ziggler defeats The Miz to win the Intercontinental Championship

Dolph Ziggler was close to being forced to retire Sunday night and survived being maced by Maryse and interference from the Spirit Squad before knocking out The Miz with a boot-less Super Kick.

Naomi defeats Alexa Bliss

Naomi was Alexa Bliss’ replacement opponent Sunday night, and she rolled out of an armbar to pin Bliss, who was unable to kick out in time.

Bray Wyatt defeats Randy Orton

Luke Harper, who has been out of action since March with major knee injuries, made a surprise return to interrupt Bray Wyatt’s match with Orton and allow Wyatt to turn the tide and hit a Sister Abigail for the win.
