Jay Z has become the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Roc Nation boss has taken to his Twitter to celebrate the monumental success.
The news first came yesterday after he was named as one of the icons who changed the way the world perceives rap. BBC reveals that joining the hall of fame is a ‘huge deal’, as it is given to only legends whose impact on the society, through music, cannot be overstated.
Some of the stars who were given the honour include, Marvin Gaye, Nobel Prize for Literature winner Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson. No rapper has ever made the list.

Celebrating the news yesterday, the rap mogul said it was ‘a win for US’, especially because rap was previously sneered at by the industry.
“I remember when rap was said to be a fad,” the rapper tweeted, adding, “We are now alongside some of the greatest writers in history.”
He tweeted Wednesday (Feb. 22), encouraging his fellow rappers to celebrate this victory in the rap community.
