Presidency Reveals Real Cause Of Buhari’s Prolonged Leave

The Presidency has given the reason for President Muhammadu Buhari‘s prolonged stay in London.

A statement signed by the President’s media aide, Femi Adesina, said his doctors advised that he needed a longer period of rest.

According to the statement, doctors gave the advice after they received results of Buhari’s “normal annual checkup.”

The statement titled “President Buhari Thanks Nigerians for Prayers; Says No Cause for Worry,” read:

President Muhammadu Buhari thanks millions of Nigerians who have been sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches throughout the country.

The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, show of love and concern.

President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry.

During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned.

President Buhari who was scheduled to return to Nigeria on February 5th 2017, wrote to the National Assembly that he’ll be extending his leave indefinitely to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has been performing Buhari’s duties as Acting President since his departure on January 19th
