Solange Knowles Accuses Grammys Of Racism Following Beyonce’s Epic AOTY Loss To Adele

Solange Knowles is not happy that her sister, and black artists, are being snubbed by the Grammys, and this comes after Beyoncé, lost out in Album of the Year category to Adele at the ceremony held on Sunday, February 12.

The Cranes in the Sky singer tweeted statistics of black artists who have won the category in the past 20 years, slamming the organisation for being biased.

There have only been two black winners in the last 20 years for album of the year, there have been over 200 black artists who have performed,” Solange Knowles said on Monday, in tweets she has since deleted, adding,

Create your own committees, build your own institutions, give your friends awards, award yourself, and be the gold you wanna hold my g’s.

Her irritation at the organisation was partly echoed by Adele who felt quite embarrassed after she kept winning on Sunday night, beating Beyonce in all the important categories.

I’m very humbled and very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyoncé. And this album for me, the Lemonade album, Beyoncé, was so monumental and so well thought out. And so beautiful and soul-baring, we all got to see another side of you that you don’t always let us see, and we appreciate that,” Adele said in her acceptance speech.

But is Solange Knowles’ outburst misplaced?

According to Rolling Stone, Grammy voters are old white males… And that tells the story.
