Several prospective candidates of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Makurdi, Benue State on Thursday, expressed their frustration over their inability to get registration forms for the examination by hurling stones at the zonal office of the examination body.

The protesting candidates broke windows of the zonal office and other properties in the premises were not spared, the Punch is reporting.

The applicants had thronged the major road leading to the zonal office around 8am, blocking the road with bonfires and disrupting vehicular traffic.

But policemen were called in to disperse the protesting applicants.

Some candidates also took their protest to Benue State Government House, where they complained about the difficulty in getting registration forms.

For three days, I was at Union Bank but could not process the payment as required, I later moved to Post Office in Makurdi where I finally paid to get the code and this was after two days,” One of the prospective candidates, who simply identified himself as Gabriel said.

The zonal coordinator, Mr Samuel Umoru, said that the applicants were not patient enough, adding that those who were patient had been registering.

This is the first time in several years there will be a shortage of registration forms. Interestingly, the new JAMB boss was just appointed last year
