Twitter Reacts To ‘Horrifying’ Bronze Statue Of Cristiano Ronaldo At Madiera Airport

Cristiano Ronaldo is in a familiar place once again – the spotlight – and this time it’s for both good and well, ugly reasons.

The Real Madrid superstar reached another landmark yesterday, scoring his 71st international goal as Portugal went down 3-2 to Sweden on his return to his hometown of Madiera.

As its most illustrious son, the Island of Madeira decided to rename its airport after the 32-year-old, and as part of the ceremony a bust of the superstar was unveiled.

Being one of the easily recognisable sportsmen on the planet, it shouldn’t be hard to replicate Ronaldo’s face in sculpture form. But then, it turned out to be far less straightforward than it seemed as the bust unveiled looked somewhat different.

It will be recalled that the former Manchester United winger triggered controversy when he unveiled a ‘well-endowed’ statue of himself in his Island capital, Funchal 2014. And, barely a day after his homecoming was ruined by the shock friendly defeat by Sweden, the Portugal captain again finds himself the object of ridicule on social media as fans are having a field day dragging him for filth following his latest artwork.
