LOL:American Adult Animated Sitcom Depicts Abuja As Village With Mud Houses, Says Nigerians Use Rhinoceros As Uber(Photos)
While I think its funny and shows the naivety of the producers, many Nigerians are are not finding the portrayal of Nigeria in the most recent episode of Popular American animated series Family Guy.
The series, which is a satire that takes jabs at every sphere of life including politics and religion featured Nigeria in the most recent episode titled ‘Scammed Yankees’.
In the episode, two major characters Peter and Carter end up in Nigeria when they fall prey to a scam.
During the episode, one of the Characters Meg tried to call a cab at some point. See the depiction below:
Meg stands in is in front of a hotel in Abuja getting ready to call an Uber.
She calls an Uber…
A Rhineceros then arrives instead of one of the state of the art cars currently being used by Uber in Nigeria.
From the photos, Nigeria is depicted as an underdeveloped country, backward in technology and civilisation. Since the photos emerged online, Nigerians have dragged the show on Twitter with some even threatening to sue.
Many Nigerians have not even seen a Rhinoceros before, so how it will be a form of transportation is nothing short of ridiculous. …lol.

I love family guy nd I think seth mcfarlane is a genius nd by d way dats not meg trying to get a cab, that’s louis griffin meg’s mum. This is one funny show I love to watch.
Thanks Abby for your contribution, I love the fact that you understand #FamilyGuy is a funny show, and sometimes they go to the extreme to bring out the fun.
I think Nigerians are just reading too much into this, they should get the humor in the episodes. This show is well known for throwing potshots at any topic, anyone, anyplace they talk about.
Black Rhinoceros is found mainly in Africa, and it’s present in North Eastern Nigeria, so I guess that’s why it’s been used to represent one thing relevant to Africa.
Donald Trump with his running mounth like our own Fayose of Ekiti State. Can they be from the same mother? Na. I just think that they are both stubborn weeds that can survive on any kind of soil.
