A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday turned down a bail request by the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice John Tsoho said Mr. Kanu must remain in prison pending his trial because he is a treat to national peace and security.

He further held t that if released Kanu might continue with his treasonable acts, and that he might jump bail because he possessed dual citizenship.

The judge ruled that Kanu be remanded in court but ordered an accelerated hearing of his case.
Kanu who  has been in detention since his arrest in October, is facing charges of treason.
