British Prime Minister David Cameron Calls Nigeria ‘Fantastically Corrupt Country’ (Watch )
Today, a video showing British Prime Minister David Cameron calling Nigeria and Afghanistan “fantastically corrupt” countries, while he spoke to Queen Elizabeth has surfaced online.
Nigeria and Afghanistan, are due to attend Cameron’s anti-corruption summit, which Pres. Buhari has already flown out to attend.
Cameron is to host an international anti-corruption summit on Thursday aimed at stepping up global action to combat corruption in all walks of life.
In the video, Cameron was shown talking with the queen about the summit. He said:
“We had a very successful cabinet meeting this morning, talking about our anti-corruption summit.
We have got the Nigerians – actually we have got some leaders of some fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain. Nigeria and Afghanistan – possibly two of the most corrupt countries in the world.”
After Mr Cameron’s comments, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby intervened to say: “But this particular president is not corrupt… he’s trying very hard,” before Speaker John Bercow said: “They are coming at their own expense, one assumes?”
The conversation took place at Buckingham Palace at an event to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.Video below :
