The General Overseer of The Abundant Life Evangelical Ministry Port Harcourt and Founder of Arm of Hope Foundation also based in P.H Apostle Eugene Ogu, has been finally been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police in Abuja.
He was picked up in the Gudu area of Abuja. The popular Port Harcourt based pastor was arrested for a $15million fraud case that has lingered on since 2008.
Apostle Ogu, who sources say is also one of the spiritual advisers and ‘prayer warrior’ of Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, when he was governor of Rivers State, is now in police custody and will likely be charged to court on Tuesday.
As reported by Paparazzi Friday, there was drama before he eventually submitted himself to the long arm of the law. He had went to court about a matter and was escorted by two policemen from the Anti Robbery Squad, SARS. The two officers got overzealous and attempted to hinder his arrest. But phone calls to their commandant got them to allow the law take its course.
As at Saturday, the SARS have washed their hands off the case and the detectives from SFU (Special Fraud Unit), reports say, arrested Pastor Ogu and interrogated him till late Friday night. Ogu is currently in their cell and providing useful information to the police.
Our sources say the pastor had in his bid to escape the law, allegedly bribed some police officer in a bid to clear him by accusing the complainant of providing false information to the police in a letter dated 18-04-2012 Ref, CR:3000/FCT/X/D11/VOL.6/17 signed by one CSP Umar Musa Muri.Assistant CP ‘D’ Dept (CID) FCT Police Command, Garki Abuja.
The officer , CSP Muri, Subsequently gave him a clean bill to continue defrauding people instead of sitting behind bars.(Paparazzi has a copy of the document).
The EFCC which has been investigating the case since it was reported to them since 2008 assigned their office in Port Harcourt to prosecute Ogu for his alleged criminal dealings using his company El-Dumz International Ltd. and church but the case was hijacked from the EFCC PH by Ogu’s lawyer Barrister Neanwike , also a pastor in Abundant Life church by using the office of the State Attorney General in Rivers State where the case was twisted againt the complainant to intimidate and harass him using state apparatus.
After so much frustration, the original complainant Mr. Larry Obasi , a business man based In the Czech Republic and representing his partners filed a suit (Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/940/2011) in the Federal High Court Abuja against the EFCC joining Apostle Eugene Ogu , Mr. Frank Anyanwu (Ogu’s partner ) and their company El-Dumz Ltd requesting the court to compel the EFCC to prosecute Ogu and his company for their fraudulent activities. The EFCC in their defence claimed it was still investigating the matter and could not be compelled to do otherwise. This was the same matter investigated by the same organization and by the CMU (Chairman’s Monitoring Unit) of the EFCC in 2009 and concluded with a report that the pastor and his company should be prosecuted prior to transferring the case file to their Port Harcourt office for that purpose.
Ruling on the said suit on a fiat issued by the Hon.Chief Judge to the Judge handling the matter , Judge Balkisu Bello Aliyu on 11th February, 2014
granted EFCC more time to carry out its investigstion and would rather not “interfer with the proper excercise of the statutory duties of the 1st respondent (i.e EFCC) ” .Surprisingly, the EFCC is still investigating the case (of which they have all documents of transaction).
It is still unclear, why and how Apostle Ogu got two security details who helped him to resist an earlier arrest, to himself while coming to Abuja.

Please always get your facts right before you put it out to the public. The man of God in question was not arrested as you purported above and he also preached in Port Harcourt on Sunday. I do not want to believe that you are one of those hungry, irresponsible, fake journalists hired by the criminal Larry Obasi to give false information to the public so you might as well retract this false story you are peddling round. Larry Obasi is the one owing the Man of God Apostle Eugene E . Ogu, Larry has evaded arrests multiple time and failed to appear in court on several occasions because he is being backed by some powerful Nigerians. You can also affirm that the documents you peddled on this sight are not complete and inconclusive, as a Lawyer I’m sure you should know better than deceive people with false information. You know what defamation and assassination of character could lead you to as the Man of God Apostle Eugene E. Ogu is an honest Man Of God who has over a 1,000 indigent orphans and fatherless on his scholarship scheme. He has also erected water boreholes in parts of Rivers, Jos, Imo and Borno states where there is no portable drinking water. Through the Arm of Hope Foundation, he carries out skill acquisition for many and empowers them financially afterwards. I could go on and on as the list is endless. I am not a recipient of his scholarship scheme but I know many who are. All I am saying is Moji…You do not become great by destroying greatness…Always look before you write, get the whole truth from both sides, that way you will be JUSTIFIED before God, Angels and Men.
