Femi Fani-Kayode Allegedly Assaulted In EFCC Custody By Overzealous Official
Reports making rounds online is that PDP honcho Femi Fani-Kayode and other detainees were yesterday allegedly attacked by an EFCC operative identified as Suleiman Kabiru.
A source confirmed that Kabiru has constantly harassed detainees who engage in saying prayers while being held at the commission’s facility, Naij reports.
“Matters came to a head on Saturday when, without any provocation, Suleiman Kabiru, charged at Fani-Kayode injuring him in the process,” the source said.
The source added that Kabiru was visibly angry and asked him (Fani-Kayode) why he would not obey his instructions. He however said that Kabiru was stopped from inflicting more harm on Fani-Kayode, through intervention from other officials of the commission.
PDP’s Director of New Media, Adeyanju Deji has also confirmed the news on his Twitter handle in a couple of angry tweets. See below:
This Suleiman Kabiru person definitely needs to be investigated. That a person is being detained by the EFCC doesn’t mean they do not have rights…haba!
This is not good at all. Why should people allow themselves to be used? That a man is charged with “corruption” or its related acts does not give the officials right to molest of humiliate him. This is not civil and those involved should be cautioned except their planning to ake names for themselves.
This is not assult but oppression, those that perpetrate this should know that nothing lasts forever and nobody knows tomorrow.
