EFCC Threatened For Closure By Middle Belt Group
The Middle Belt Renaissance Movement (MBRM), a group from the middle belt have threatened to shut down EFCC head office in Abuja calling the organisation“partial” and referring to it as “EFCC Ltd”.
The cause of this move was spawned by the non-prosecution of 52 persons allegedly indicted by the Justice Kpojime Commission of inquiry in Benue state.
Kuanum Terrence, the national coordinator of the group, explained that EFCC only acts on conclusion from the highest bidder claiming that the organisation is run on “customer service”. An ultimatum was given stating that if there was no reaction by the unit(EFCC) come Thursday the 7th of July, the doors of the organisation will be locked.
The judicial commission of inquiry recommended that 52 individuals and 10 corporate bodies refund over N107 billion to the coffers of the Benue state government.
