It is a well-known fact these days that smoking cigarettes can result in death, often due to cancer caused by the numerous and varied chemicals contained inside the cigarettes, hence the term “cancer sticks.” But sometimes one gets tired of preaching and has to come from a visual angle.
We’ve heard all the ad’s and jingles “Smokers are liable to die young” but do people actually pay attention? I mean, for the fact that some say it reduces stress others say it actually makes them look cool, doesn’t it?  I pity you if you’re nodding.

Companies around the world, who know what is best for you better than you do, are engaged in a massive anti-smoking campaign, of varying degrees, who seek to encourage smokers to give up their cigarettes, or even to just put a ban on tobacco altogether.

One method of discouraging the smoking of cigarettes is to graphically show the damage caused by the chemicals and tar contained within them.  According to research, people respond to images rather than speech. Seeing sights like these only confirm that putting down the cigarettes and quitting smoking should be the right decision.

China is the world’s largest producer of cigarettes, and there are an estimated 300 million cigarette smokers in China, which is nearly equal to the entire population of the United States.

Apart from the lung effect is your skin. Your skin literally dies when it retains smoke because the harmful fumes are retained. It’s like leaving a car engine running a white blanket. The smoke stains the sheet instantly and its almost impossible to get rid of the stain.

Habit is quite addictive, almost impossible to drop because of the Nicotine it’s laced with.

Nicotine is a chemical compound that is present in tobacco. When tobacco is smoked, nicotine is absorbed through the wall lining of the small air sacs in the lungs. When sniffed or chewed, it is absorbed through the the nose or mouth. Nicotine can also be absorbed through the skin.

Regardless of how nicotine is absorbed, it enters the bloodstream where it circulates throughout the body and travels to the brain where it crosses the blood-brain barrier. Once in the brain, it binds to and activates receptors called the cholinergic receptors.

Once this happens, the affected person needs to use nicotine regularly to maintain normal brain function. If the level of nicotine falls, the smoker may experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms that lead to them “topping up” their nicotine levels by smoking again. Because of its highly addictive properties, smoking is considered to be the hardest of addictions to break.

The good news is once you stop smoking your skin gradually recovers and in due time returns to its full glow.
