Aremu: The Harbinger Of Hope In Nigerian Music Industy
The Nigeria music industry has just welcome a new entrant in the person of Oladayo Joseph Opadoja Aremu with his style of Yoruba Classics, the gifted music debutant is set to earn his star with his chosen genre. His first official single titled ‘Ebora’ is such worded that it belongs to the category of evergreen songs, it has in its steps several other relatable tracks that appeal to everyday living such as ‘So Tenu E,’ a blend of Afro hip-hop.
Aremu in no distant time will be rubbing shoulders with notable practitioners within the industry, the likes Asa, Femi Kuti, Beautiful Nubia. With two great songs, Rekiyah and Felicia which are pure imagination of the singer, but given life to in a manner that makes it real and identifiable to the listener, is rich in lyrics and accompanied by appropriate instruments.
Born in, Lagos, Nigeria on the 4th of December, 1986 Aremu discovered early that he cannot be separated from music and for him to be relevant, decided to stand away from the crowd by making sure that all his songs are well written with to make it acceptable to all. His lyrics consists of, Yoruba adages, essentially to preach morals and tolerance, and perseverance.
Music to him is never complete without the movement of the body no matter which part it is, dance, according to him, is an integral part of his craft as he “wanted to create deep, soulful, music that he can dance to”.
Aremu develops his lyrics first as poems before introducing his acoustic guitar to the lines, “This is when it comes alive,” The stage is set and the airwaves ready to bow to the power of music through Aremu the latest entrant with a message.
