Airline Passengers Warned Not To Switch On, Charge, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phones
Airline passengers have been warned by US authorities not to switch on or charge their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones when on board the plane, it has emerged.
This follows reports last week that the newly released flagship can explode during or after charging. Photos and videos of one of the phones that got burnt while charging was also posted online leading to recalling the phones all around the world.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also advised against packing the phones into any checked-in luggage.
Qantas and Virgin Australia have also told customers not to charge or use the phone during flights.
Samsung said it would speed up shipments of replacement Galaxy Note 7 phones to ease safety concerns.
Earlier this week also, US TV channel Fox 10 reported claims that a faulty Galaxy Note 7 had set fire to a family’s Jeep.
The reports of exploding Samsung note 7 phones is estimated to cost the South Korean Tech giants millions or even billions of dollars as some of the victims are said to want to sue. Also experts say customers are likely to shift their loyalty and consider other brands due to safety concerns.
