Big Birthday Shout Out To One Of The Most Remarkable People I Know Oluwatoyosilorun Ayeni

Today is the birthday of one of my best friends Oluwatoyosi Opeyemi Ayeni. Below is my open letter to her:

Toyosi, 

I don’t even know where to start about how awesome you are as a person. 

Is it the fact that you are reliable and dependable? Selfless and generous? Relistic and kind? Your persona is so unique, that in the real sense, words cannot do you justice. 

Just like yesterday when we met in my first year as a law diploma student in Unilag. This was 2004. Over the years we have had our ups and downs, grown from girls to women, and generally experienced different facets of life. But through it all one thing remained constant that trumped everything: Love, borne out of pure, genuine friendship. 

I remember when we will have cat fights or I made an issue about something minor and thought to my self: ‘friendship is just overrated.’ Looking back now I can’t help but laugh at my naivety in those moments of temporary lack of realism because in truth, friendship in our own case is kinda underrated. This is because most people don’t have friends like you or may not even be lucky enough to meet someone so genuine, so true. Indeed I am blessed to call someone like you ‘friend’ Toyosi

Perhaps, of all the beautiful traits you possess as a human being, one of the most impressive I think is your OBJECTIVITY . Never have I met anyone more objective in their view of life and treatment of people. Your ability to say the truth without any quiver in your voice regardless of who is involved is more than admirable. Even more, your ability to tell your friends (especially me)where they’ve veered off the right part in any situation is one that has earned you obeisance in the eyes of many.

Before your head will bust now, you are far from perfect o. And yes you have your flaws. But Oremi, those flaws is what makes you close to perfect. Those flaws make you Toyosi, the amazing woman that you are.

On this occasion of your birthday I wish you nothing but love, joy and loads of happiness. You bring a lot of these into the lives of everyone around you, so you deserve it in 10 folds running over. I pray God almighty blesses you, gives your long life with good health of mind and body, and surpasses your greatest expectations. I pray that as you start this new year, he will help you find (if you haven’t already) your God given purpose and gear you to success. I pray that he illuminates your path, and helps you to be the the best version of your self as he destined for you to be. I also pray that he blesses abundantly the work of your hands. 
Talking about the work of your hands Toyosi, sometimes it leaves me in awe how talented you are. Even more endearing is you not knowing the extent. Your attention to detail is uncanny. When you embark on any project you leave no stone unturned. You are also very dedicated and believe that any thing worth doing should be done immensely well and you apply this in your work and and all that you do. This is why I have no doubt in mind that you are destined for greatness and it’s only a matter of time before you make your indelible mark in the world. Such is the believe I have in you Toyosi and with God I know that all this will come to pass. 

I could keep going on and on about you and won’t run out of things to say but I may start to sound like a broken record (lol)because most of the people who will read this don’t know you like I do. But I will end this letter by saying: 

-thank you for being you;

-thank you for being an amazing friend to me and others;

-thank you for being more of a sister than a friend;

-thank you for all that you do and above all;

-thank you for being a blessing to many.
