Wanted Nigerian Journalist, Salkida Arrested At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport
Ahmad Salkida, a Nigerian journalist known for his access to Boko Haram commanders, was declared wanted in August 2016 by the Nigerian Army in connection with the abducted Chibok girls and the terrorist group.
Salkida who has extensively covered the conflict between the government and Boko Haram, released an exclusive video sent to him, which he said confirmed that the Chibok girls were alive but some died in recent airstrikes.
Salkida, who was on exile in the UAE, responded to the army, saying he’ll return if they provide a ticket for him.
He has now been arrested.
According to Sahara Reporters, he was arrested in Abuja today as he arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport aboard Emirates flight EK 785. Salkida was reportedly taken into custody from the door of the aircraft by members of the security forces.
I’m keen on finding out what information they will extract from him. It might go a long way in ending this war
Odiegwu! Abeggii…
This is nothing but disappointing…why the arrest? He promised to come here if only they (FG) can provide flight ticket and I’m sure they must have provided same for him to be here…arresting him shows incompetence and shame on the part of FG, no point arresting this guy, they should allow him to follow them without showing their balloon power…Shame on them!!!
Well let’s wait and see how the dramas will unfold.
