I came across a website which claims that an average woman owns 20 pairs of shoes and will have 470 pairs in her lifetime. And out of these 20 pairs, 5 are heels, 7 are sandals, flats, slippers and wedges, 3 are boots and 5 are party wear.
Why do women love shoes so much?
#Mood Swings– Psychologists have found out that dopamine, the neurotransmitter in the brain that releases the feel good factor we feel, goes up when we buy accessories, especially shoes. This high is similar to the feeling of people, who are on drugs.
Another interesting fact is that when women shop for shoes, a part of their brain, known as the collecting spot gets activated. This part actually provokes people to buy items they’re fascinated with, as it is with the case of women and shoes.
#Elevated Height – Another psychological aspect involved in buying shoes is having the feel of euphoria. It’s a mind set that height signifies power. High heels make women feel empowered as they look taller and more confident than before in their new pair of heels.
#Personality Enhances – With shoes, a woman’s body looks different. The wearer stands taller with her buttocks being prominent and posture improves even the walk.
Unknowingly, women tend to practice catwalk in their footwear.
#Mental Satisfaction – As they say, when feeling low, women tend to shop more. It makes them feel better that things are not as bad as they seem and when they’re able to buy a cute pair of footwear at affordable prices, they feel world is a better place.

Only God can answer this question. I buy heels because it helped with my walk. When I was younger, I was told I walk like a man, heels make me walk like a lady. Another season is a good pair of heels amps your outfit. No matter how expensive your clothes are, a good pair of shoes make them look better. First thing I notice about anybody is their shoes before their clothes. My closet has run out of space for my shoes. I wish I can really tell why I buy shoes every week. Some i’ve worn once, others never and I keep buying. I think buying shoes is like having a collection. You keep wanting more because new trend comes in everyday. Buying shoes is like having chocolate addiction. My husband will say “God help you.” “God help me indeed. Do you also know, when you buy new clothes, you want to get new shoes for it, it doesn’t matter if your old shoes in the closet go with it. That’s how it is.
