Ooni Of Ife Unveils 42 feet tall Statue Of Moremi Ajasoro, The Third Tallest Statue In Africa
His Imperial Majesty Alayeluwa Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi Ojaja II, 51st Ooni of Ife yesterday unveiled a 42 feet tall statue of Moremi Ajasoro-the spiritual torch of liberty at the statue ground of Moremi Ajasoro the goddess of liberty.
The statue is the tallest Nigeria, the 3rd tallest in Africa and 7th tallest in the world today.
At 161 feet, African Renaissance Monument in Dakar, Senegal, is the tallest statue in Africa, then the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt which is 66 feet.
Moremi Ajasoro statue of Liberty in Ile- Ife , Nigeria at 42 feet is now the third tallest in Africa.
Ramesses II in Egypt at 30 feet, is the fourth tallest. Nelson Mandela Union Building in South Africa has a 28 feet statue and is the fifth tallest in the continent and Jesus Satue in Owerri Nigeria the fifth as well.
The statue was constructed right on the spot where Moremi lived centuries ago located behind the palace of the Ooni. (Ita Akogun in ife). It was 100 percent locally constructed by Nigerian engineers that are youths with made in Nigeria Materials.
The statue will be open for viewing for all and grand finale of the statue unveiling will take place on the 25th of November at 5pm.
