Fans Panic As Britney Spears Is Declared Dead In Twitter Hoax
Sony Music star, Britney Spears was the victim of a hoax after hackers broke into the company’s Twitter account and made several tweets, announcing that the singer had died.
“Britney Spears is dead by accident! We will tell you more soon,” said the hackers in one of the tweets, and this shutdown the internet, until Sony Music confirmed the hack.
“Britney is fine and well,” the singer’s manager, Adam Leber, told CNN, after the offensive tweets were deleted.
Not long after, a group of hackers called ‘OurMine’ claimed responsibility for the attack. This is the same group that had previously broken into the Twitter accounts of Marvel and Netflix, Mark Zuckerberg and many more top executives.
The notorious group also hacked into Bob Dylan’s Twitter account yesterday.
“Sony Music Entertainment’s Twitter account was compromised. This has been rectified. Sony Music apologizes to Britney Spears and her fans for any confusion,” said Sony Music in their statement yesterday.
The New York Times confirms that the music company’s Twitter was still acting ‘erratically’ until hours ago.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears is yet to react to the hoax.
Whew! At least we can breathe easy, now we know it was nothing but a hoax.
