African football legend, Samuel Eto’o has added another great award to his bulging awards cabinet. The Star striker won the Player Career Award at the 2016 Global Soccer Awards staged in Dubai.

Joining Eto’o at the top honour’s list is Cristiano Ronaldo who was named player of the year for his stunning achievement with Real Madrid and Portugal over the past year. Ronaldo was however not present to pick up the award.

Eto’o, 35, was rewarded for his immense input to the beautiful game – which saw him scoop three Uefa Champions League crowns, two La Liga, two Africa Cup of Nations, an Olympic gold and Fifa Club World Cup titles, Goal writes.

“I’ve received the Player Career Awards in Dubai yesterday. Thanks to all my teammates and coaches who have helped make this possible,” the four-time African footballer of the year tweeted.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan star also dedicated his trophy to all those who have lost a loved one through terrorist attacks.

Egypt’s Mohamed Salah was named best Arab Player of the Year with Mark Clattenburg getting the Referee of the Year award.

Portugal coach Fernando Santos was named coach of the year for winning the Uefa European Championship held in France, while super-agent Mino Raiola was honoured with the agent of the year diadem after masterminding the transfers of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United.

Spanish giant Real Madrid was named club of the year.
