Investigations Begin Into How Nigerian Governor Lost N10 million Bail Out Fund To U.S Based Mistress

In 2016, President Buhari released the sum of N1. 266.44 trillion to 36 states Governors as bail out fund to help with paying salaries and offsetting bills in their respective states.

News reports have now surfaced about how an unnamed governor is currently being put under intense investigation after $10 million allocated to his state as bailout fund to pay salaries of workers was hijacked by his US-based mistress.According to the Nation Newspaper,  the governor commissioned his mistress to help him launder the money in the United States.

Security agencies who are still investigating the alleged theft said the governor either wired the money to the mistress or delivered it in cash to her in tranches.

However, the security agency got wind of the crime after an uproar following the diversion of the money by the mistress.

“A governor from an oil-producing state is in soup and under probe by some security agencies,” a source involved in the investigation told the newspaper.

“The governor seems to have been duped by his mistress who stays in Texas in the United States. The governor is worried after discovering that his girlfriend has defrauded him of $10 million. What started as a love affair and promises of good faith has turned sour.

“Yet the governor would not want his wife or the people of the state, who will be disappointed, to know about this ugly transaction.”

“All relevant security agencies are already tracking how the cash was wired to the mistress as well as the whereabouts of the funds.

“Very soon, the details of the transaction will be revealed to Nigerians.”
