JUST IN: Army Confirms Another Chibok Girl With Baby Has Been Found
Thursday’s rescue of yet another Chibok girl takes the number of Chibok girls so far rescued to 29.
According to Vanguard, the newly rescued girl has been identified as Rakiya Abubakar. She was reportedly rescued with a baby believed to be hers, by troops of the 27 Brigade around Alagarno area near Ajigin in Damboa LGA.
This comes a week after the Nigerian military captured Sambisa forest and declared victory over terrorist group, Boko Haram, it has announced the rescue of yet another Chibok girl.
Over 200 girls were abducted by the terrorist group on April 14, 2014, from the Chibok Secondary School in Borno state.
A few of the girls managed to escape from the Sambisa forest where they were taken by the terrorists but many remain in captivity.
In September 2016, negotiations between the federal government through operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Islamist sect led to the release of 21 Chibok girls.
One other Chibok girl was earlier independently rescued by military operatives assisted by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
