Kidnapped Students, Staff Of Turkish School Released After 11 Days In Captivity
The kidnapped students and teachers of Nigerian Turkish International School, located in the Isheri area of Ogun State, have been released by their abductors after spending 11 days in captivity.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Kayode Aderanti confirmed their release.
Aderanti said the students have been reunited with their families.
The AIG denied rumours that the families of the victims had been paying ransom, insisting that “no ransom has been paid.’’
Aderanti commended the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, for putting in place an effective security system in the state.
He urged residents of Ogun to partner with the police to ensure that lives and property were properly secured.
Gunmen invaded the school on the night of Friday, January 13 in a white pick-up van and took the students and the teachers away.
