A Fulani herdsman was on Wednesday attacked at a Delta brothel on the suspicion that he was a member of the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
The herdsman whose name was simply given as Usman was reportedly attacked by at least 7 thugs and a sex worker at Big Dafe brothel along the East-West Expressroad in Ughelli, Delta State.
According to the Vanguard, Usman had approached the sex worker identified as Amaka, and paid her N5,000 in exchange for her services but things went awry as he took off his clothes.
A witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity is quoted by the newspaper to have said:
“While the man was taking off his clothing after paying the lady N5,000 at about 1:30a.m., his dagger fell out. On sighting his dagger, Amaka immediately raised alarm that he is a Boko Haram member, who wants to kill her.”
The witness added that the wife of the proprietor of the Delta brothel ordered some thugs who were hitherto playing a game of pool, to beat Usman and a male sympathiser, who was pleading on his behalf.
A senior police officer at the Ughelli ‘A’ Division Police Station, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, told newsmen that the herdsman and the sex worker have been detained pending further investigation into the matter.
