AFCON2017 UPDATE: Cameroon Defeats Ghana To Seal Final Showdown Against Egypt
Two second half goals gave Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions a 2-0 victory over Ghana’s Black Stars to advance to Sunday’s final match against Egypt in the ongoing 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) taking place in Gabon
The match was goalless until the 71st minute when Ghana’s goalkeeper, Razak Braimah came off his line to intercept a freekick delivered from outside the area.
Rasak got nowhere near the ball and succeeded only in distracting Boye, who merely headed softly backwards. Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui of Cameroon controlled it at the back post with his left before scooping the ball into the net with his right foot from an acute angle while falling backwards.
Three minutes into inujury time, Cameroon sealed their place at the final with a goal from Christian Bassagog following a counter attack. Ghana wasted their own attacking opportunities with several dreadful crosses and then they were hit with a 2-against-1 break.
Vincent Paté Aboubakar played in Bassagog, who carried it forward 30 yards and flipped the ball past Razak to ignite delirious celebrations!
Cameroon will now face Egypt in the final, while Ghana and Burkina Faso will battle for third position.
