Brazilian soccer legend Pele has never been a shy cat. He is what you would call a straight shooter. And his latest shot went right at Cristiano Ronaldo.
Pele, a three-time World Cup winner and arguably the best player ever, said Brazilian and Barcelona star Neymar is better than Ronaldo:
“The only problem that Neymar has is his header. Cristiano Ronaldo is not better than him.
“Technically, Neymar is way better, but [Ronaldo] is better when using the head. You don’t see Neymar scoring with the head, and that counts.”
Of course, both are two of the best in the world, but most wouldn’t agree with Pele and would put Ronaldo ahead. The Portuguese star has averaged 52 goals per season with Real Madrid since joining in 2009, while Neymar averaged 28 goals per season since joining Barca in 2013. He’s right though that Ronaldo is better in the air and that heading ability is the only thing missing from Neymar’s attacking game.
Now, Pele also referenced their technical ability. They are both absolutely magical on the ball with quickness and a brilliant touch.
Both are fantastic, but Pele is wrong. Ronaldo is better at the moment, but when both of their careers are done, that could be another story.
Yeah right… just as Arsenal Mesut Ozil and Sanchez are more gifted compared to Lionel Messi…
