Legendary Singer, Mary J. Blige Addresses Reason Behind Her Divorce For First Time In New Interview

Mary J Blige has finally opened up for the first time since the news of the divorce from Kendu Isaacs surfaced.

In a new interview with Angie Martinez, the legendary singer said she realised she and her husband, who she had been with for 21 years and was married to for 14 years, had grown apart; he began to unnecessarily criticise her about things that did not matter before now, making her uncomfortable.

“[He] started throwing questions around like, “why don’t you cook?”, “why don’t you wear your hair like this?”,” Blige says, noting that she never cooks and she was surprised that he was asking about her hairstyles.

And it was for this reason that she sensed something had gone wrong in their relationship. “Overwhelming disrespect, you’re too familiar, you’re disrespecting me and I can sense I’m not what you want any more,” says Blige. ”You start to realise that this man doesn’t want you and he’s just gone all the time and you’re by yourself in the relationship.”

She continues, “When you realise you’re by yourself in a relationship and you’re suffering through it…now it’s time to do some investigating.”

And she did some investigating. Though she did not expressly state that she caught him cheating, she says she found all the proof she needed.

“I was getting things here and there but I didn’t get no full proof. But when I got the full proof I didn’t have to investigate it, it just showed up,” she says.

In July 2016, Mary J Blige officially filed for divorce from Kendu Isaacs, and shortly after, Kendu allegedly began to target her money, claiming that she put him out of job.

Last week, he lowered his spousal support request from $130k to $110k. It is unclear how this process will end.

But one thing is sure: Mary J Blige has moved on.
