Senate Slams Customs Boss, Orders Him To Appear On Wednesday Or Face Penalties
The Nigerian Senate, on Tuesday, mandated the Comptroller General of Customs, Retired Colonel Hameed Alli, to appear before it on Wednesday as scheduled, at exactly 10.30 am, draped in his full customs uniform.
This decision was reached after a letter from the customs boss indicating his inability to honour an initial summons for him to be present in the hallowed chambers on Wednesday was read on the floor of the house. According to Retd Col Alli, he won’t be able to appear before the Senate due to an NCSC engagement.
He therefore implored the house to schedule another date for his appearance.
This didn’t go down well with several of the lawmakers who made their minds known. One of them was Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, who described the excuses by the customs chief as unacceptable whilst insisting he appeared on Thursday instead.
SP, @bukolasaraki puts the questions and the DG of Customs has been mandated to appear tomorrow in Uniform by 10:30am.
