A resident of Port Harcourt, Rivers State has published on Facebook a list of dowry demands of a native of the Niger-Delta State.
The young man, Vicky Thompson Owhorji made a case against the family of the unnamed lady from the Ubima community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the oil-rich state.
Part of the very long list which has been described as a traditional rite included ‘one big family foam with 4 pillows’ and several other items needed to float a massive provision store for petty trading.
The lady hails from the hometown of a former governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transport, Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
Some Nigerians are of the view that the traditional rites of marriage should be cancelled as it has failed to cope with the current economic realities of Nigeria.
