Three Suspects Involved In Gulder Ultimate Search Winner Hector Joberteh’s Death Arrested
More details have emerged on the winner of the Gulder Ultimate Search Season 3, Hector Oluwaseun Jobarteh, who was killed by some gunmen at his house on Olufowora Close, New Oko Oba, Agege, Lagos State on Sunday.
The victim, 38, was trailed to his house around 8am on Saturday by the assailants, shortly after picking up a sibling from the local wing of the Muritala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja.
The men were said to have shot him.
He was rushed to a hospital in the area where he was confirmed dead.
It is gathered that the gunmen had initially lost track of the victim immediately he entered his apartment.
They were said to have threatened a co-tenant, one Moji with a gun, who then gave them direction to his flat where he was killed.
The case was said to have been reported to policemen at the New Oko Oba division.
A police source told the media that preliminary investigation showed the attack was cult-related.
He said, “He had returned into the country about three months ago. He went to pick his brother on Saturday. The killers followed him to his house. When they got to the apartment, they met his younger brother who asked who they were.
They told him that they wanted to see his elder brother. Immediately they sighted him, one of them brought out a gun and shot him dead.
“From what we have gathered, it appeared to be a reprisal. There are some pointers that it had something to do with cultism.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, who confirmed the killing, said the police had arrested three suspects.
He said, “The residents picked the faces of some of the suspects, which aided police investigations. Three suspects have been arrested.”
Meanwhile, friends and family members of the victim have started paying tributes to the memory of the father of one on Facebook.
One Ayodeji Olorunda, who claimed to be the victim’s cousin, said his wife was pregnant.
He said, “My cousin and best friend, may your soul rest in peace and God Almighty will give us, especially your pregnant wife, the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Another friend, Nneka Nneka, said, “Got a message yesterday (Saturday) about you being shot. Why would anybody want to take your life? Who would explain what has happened?
You became the second good person and friend I’ve lost this year.
“I don’t know what to say Hector Oluwaseun Jobarteh, these words are hard for me to say, RIP.”
May his soul rest in perfect peace…
