Father Of Young Girl Assaulted By Lagos Lawyer Asks For Case To Be Dismissed
Mr Femi Opebiyi, the father of 15-year-old Abigail Opebiyi who was assaulted by her boss, has asked for the case against his daughter’s abuser, Mrs Tolu Olaoye, to be dropped.
32-year-old Mrs Tolu Olaoye, a lawyer and member of her church choir, allegedly assaulted her maid on December 1, 2017, then kept the girl indoors to ensure no one saw the injury inflicted on the girl’s head. It wasn’t until December 14 that neighbours of the lawyer became aware of the injury and they shared photos of the girl online which then caught the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi.

Olaoye was arrested on Friday and was taken into the custody of the gender section of the state police command in Ikeja. She appeared before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Monday where she pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault.
Olaoye’s counsel told the court that the victim’s father, Femi Opebiyi, had agreed to withdraw the case, a move the father corroborated before the court. After standing the case down for some minutes, the presiding magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, later adjourned the case till February 1, 2018, for report of settlement.
