Following the Lagos state Commissioner of Police directive to Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to clamp down on all identified routes within their jurisdictions that was hitherto used by smugglers to bring in contraband commodities into the country, the command is happy to announce that the strategy put in place for that purpose has paid off with the interception of six van loads of assorted types of consumables including four van loads of bags of rice and two van loads of poultry products at Mushin in the early hours of today, December 18th.
A statement by the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Chike Oti. says the unscrupulous business men had driven against the traffic (one way) in order to evade arrest but the operatives of the command beat them to their game. Sequel to the above, the Area Commander in charge of Area ‘D’ Mushin, ACP Akinbayo Olasoji was directed by the Commissioner of Police to handover the seized items to the officials of the Department of Customs and Excise for further investigation and possible prosecution. The seized items are estimated to worth about fifty million Naira.
