The Gevora Hotel in Dubai is a 356 meter high hotel and currently holds the record as the tallest hotel with single building in the world.
The hotel will open to guests on February 12 and it is barely a metre taller than the previous tallest hotel, the 355m, 77-floor JW Marriott Marquis.
The Gevora Hotel is a 528-room hotel situated at 101 Sheikh Zayed Road, next the 333-metre Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, a previous holder of the record. The measurements are taken from ground level to the top of a hotel’s mast.
The Gevora is a gold-coloured 75-storey tower with hotel rooms all the way to the top. It will also have four restaurants, an open-air pool deck, a luxury spa on the 71st floor, plus a health club and Jacuzzi.
The Gevora’s first guests are expected today, Monday, according to Emirati daily The National.
Dubai is also home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, which pierces the city skyline at 828 metres (half a mile) high.
Not only is Burj Khalifa the world’s tallest building, it has also broken two other impressive records: tallest structure, previously held by the KVLY-TV mast in Blanchard, North Dakota, and tallest free-standing structure, previously held by Toronto’s CN Tower.
