BREAKING NEWS: White House On Lockdown After Shots Were Fired On Premises

The White house has been placed on lockdown after reports of a man shooting himself on the North Lawn.

 Secret Service agents stated that the individual was by himself at the scene, with nobody else being injured.
The staff were instructed to take shelter inside after the incident which occurred just after noon.

The U.S Secret Service tweeted:

Secret Service personnel are responding to reports of a person who allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound along the north fence line of White House.

No other reported injuries related to the incident

The U.S Secret Service also said how the injured male was being treated by medical personnel.

The incident is said to have affected traffic surrounding the area of the White House.

Washington DC police tweeted about their ‘natural death squad’ being at the scene in question:

Update: Adult male allegedly shot himself along the north fence line of the @WhiteHouse. No other injuries reported.

Our natural death squad is on the scene. Will provide updates as they come in.

 

NBC News White House correspondent Geoff Bennett, has described how journalists were ‘sheltering’ inside the press briefing room, tweeting:

BREAKING: We’re sheltering in place at the White House briefing room. A report of ‘shots fired’ near North Lawn, per a U.S. Secret Service agent. Trying to learn more.

According to CNN, deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley stated:

We are aware of the incident,

The President has been briefed. I refer you to the Secret Service for any more information.

President Donald Trump is currently in Mar-a-Lago along with First Lady Melania Trump and their young son Barron.

This latest security incident comes after a vehicle hit a security barrier close to the White House.

A 35-year-old female driver was arrested and charged for ‘numerous criminal violations’ according to CBS News. President Trump had been inside the White House at the time.
