A couple identified as Mathew and Bose were reported to have allegedly died in their friend’s house while they passed the night over there. The incident happened in Mosogar, Sapele area of Delta state.
According to one Sapele Oghenek, the couple went to buy Suya the night before their demise and Mathew was reported to have taken his girlfriend to his friend’s house.
His friend was reported to have slept in the bedroom with his girlfriend while Matthew and his girlfriend Bose slept in the living room. It came as a shock to the man after he discovered the lifeless bodies of the couple lying in the floor the next morning.
He immediately raised an alarm and neighbours around were reported to have flooded the scene. The police were immediately informed and the bodies of the dead couple were deposited at the mortuary.
Reports in the area however have it that the couple may have likely died as a result of the Suya they consumed the night before and other people are of the opinion their death might have been caused by generator fumes the couple could have inhaled.
A witness at the scene, who chose to be anonymous stated that:
‘It is very much likely these two people died from the Suya they ate because a wrap of the meat was seen beside them. I didn’t know what was happening, I only saw people gathered here while on my way to work and from inquiry i was told about the incident. This is tragic and I hope the owner of the apartment is not implicated in the case’
The owner of the room where the couples had died was immediately arrested and detained at the Police station and investigation is said to be ongoing on the cause of the death of the couple.
