Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in signing Napoli midfielder Jorginho this summer.

The 26-year-old joined the current Italian Serie A league leaders in 2014 from Hellas Verona, and was quick to establish himself in the Light Blues side – making 15 appearances in his first season at the club.

And the Portuguese-born tactician, who is looking to find a suitable replacement for Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini is lining up a £50 million bid to lure the Brazilian away from the Stadio San Paolo this summer.

Carrick is set to retire this summer, while the Belgian midfielder is being tipped to end his love affairs with the Old Trafford side following his failure to sign a new deal with the Red Devils. But coach Jose Mourinho will have to battle fellow Premier League side, Liverpool for the signature of the player, as Jurgen Klopp thought he was in pole position to land Jorginho after targeting him as a replacement for Emre Can. But Mourinho is now keen on the 26-year-old and is poised to go head-to-head with his Anfield rival for the Italian international.

Having spent close to four seasons at his present club, Jorginho has made 111 appearances in all competitions for Napoli and has just two goals to his credit. He has won four titles in Italy but the most prestigious of them all is the Serie A title he won with his present club in the 2015/16 league season. And he might be opened to fresh challenge in the English Premier League provided he gets the right offer from the interested club sides.
