19-Year-Old Ugandan Bishop’s Daughter Arrested For Faking Her Own Kidnap With Boyfriend
Police through the Flying Squad Unit have arrested a 19-year-old girl, Peace Ansimiire, daughter of Bishop Fred Muhwezi of West Ankole Diocese, Uganda, for faking her own kidnap.
In a statement that was released, The police says Ansimire, in connivance with her 22-year-old boyfriend, Julius Atwebembire allegedly faked her kidnap so as to defraud her parents of Shs 3.5 million.
They reportedly intended to use the ‘ransom money’ to start a craft shoes business in Kenya and later get married when they have amassed enough funds from their business.
Police using a tracking system and bait money of Shs 750,000, were able to trace Ansimiire’s whereabouts where She was found living freely and happily with her boyfriend in Kasubi, Rubaga Division in Kampala.
According to police, the suspects were only found with Shs 250,000 of the Shs 750,000 which had been sent as a deposit for the ransom money.
They reportedly claimed Shs 500,000 had been used to buy a smartphone, which they were using to communicate with her parents.
The two are being detained at Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala on SD REF. 07/22/04/2018 and are charged of obtaining money by menace.
Police says upon questioning, Atwebembire was also found to be the person running a fake Facebook page named Hillmark Consultants which claims to help secure jobs for unemployed people in Canada.
He has been charged on another account of electronic fraud.
