Renewed Cult Clash Leaves 6 Persons Dead In Calabar (Photos)
No fewer than six persons were killed in a renewed cult clash in Calabar South local government area, Cross Rivers state on Sunday June 3rd and continued till yesterday June 4th.
According to reports, two cult groups, Vikings and Axe, had the clash after a gang leader, simply identified as Agbani, was gruesomely murder at Ediba Qua, by Marian Market on Sunday. He was stabbed in the neck by the rivalry cult.
Members of his own cult group went after his killers in the early hours of yesterday June 4th and killed three members on Ekondo Street, Mayne Avenue and Wilkie street in Calabar South. Two other suspected cultists were gunned down along Atekong drive and Marian in Calabar Municipal.
Confirming the attack, the state police command’s spokesperson, ASP Irene Ugbo said the police has launched an investigation into the matter and the culprits will be brought to book soon. She added that one person has been arrested in connection with the clash.
