Osun Election: APC Postpones Governorship Primary
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its Osun State governorship primary election initially scheduled to take place on Thursday due to “unforeseen development.”
According to a statement signed by the Director of Publicity of the party in Osun, Kunle Oyatomi, the new date for the primary election will be communicated soon.
“Due to unforseen development, the All Progressives Congress in the state of Osun has announced the postponement of the primary to choose its gubernatorial flag bearer for September 22 election that was supposed to hold tomorrow, July 19, 2018.
“The party regretted this development but promised that sooner than later, a new date will be fixed,” Mr Oyatomi said
However, a source who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, told PREMIUM TIMES that the Abdulaziz Yari-led committee responsible to hold the election is yet to arrive the state.
“Part of the intent is to meet with aggrieved aspirants and settle scores among them on the issue of direct primary,” he said.
PREMIUM TIMES recalls that 12 aspirants of the 17 vying to be the party’s flag bearer expressed their displeasure over the direct primary policy announced by the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole. (Premium Times)
