People of Gure community in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara were on Wednesday evening livid with hanger when corpses of two kids were strangely found in an uncompleted soak-away pit half filled with water in the town. The two kids, one, a girl and the other, a boy, namely Aisha Michael and Ibrahim Bernard were found dead in the pit a day after they were said to be missing. Vanguard reliably gathered that their discovery at the pit said to be far from the homes of their respective parents was reportedly suspicious to people of the community because while the boy was still crawling the girl was only tottering. Before locating the corpses in the pit, people were said to have combed many places in search of the kids whose disappearances happened in separate locations with one said to have taken place at home and the other at the market. Though the separate parents of the two kids reportedly lived in the community while one were citizens of the country the other were said to be foreigners. Gure is one of the communities in the local government that are around the boundary between Nigeria and Benin Republic. A source in the community informed that residents suspected that the kids were killed for a ritual purpose though they could not yet finger anyone as the perpetrator. He said ,”The suspicion of ritual connection was wide-spread because another boy had recently been found in the pit though rescued alive, so we are really worried and our people are angry “. The source explained that the people however restrained themselves from a violent protest but only called in the police in the town to the situation. Spokesman of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident said remains of the kids were recovered from the pit without any mark of violence on the lifeless bodies. He however said police were still investigating to unravel how the kids got missing and died.”From what we have there is no mark on the bodies of the two kids to reflect any suspicion of ritual killing ” he stressed.
