Officers of the Nigeria police force are currently clashing with workers at the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) head office in Abuja.
The policemen have also escorted Usman Yusuf, NHIS executive secretary, who was suspended last week, into his office.
Yusuf had kicked against his suspension by the NHIS governing board, saying he would resume work on Monday nonetheless.
But the NHIS workers union had threatened to lock him out of office if he dares to show up.
However, as early as about 7am on Monday, the world’s locked the entrance gate, amid heavy security presence.
Yusuf arrived at 8:30am, gained entry into the premises with the aid of the policemen. He and was accompanied to his office.
Policemen on ground also teargassed the workers in the enduring fracas. (The Cable )
