Manifest: A Refreshing Show You Should Watch
The third time they say is a charm, and this is why I’ve decided to recommend this amazing new NBC TV show Manifest after watching the third episode of Season 1.
The show centers around a group of passengers who appear to have experienced some turbulence during a flight which took off from Jamaica to the USA. Upon landing, they are told the inconceivable: Montego Air Flight 828 had been missing for 5 and half years. From that point, the story unfolds.
The female lead character of the show a female cop- Michaela returned home to discover her world has being turned upside down, especially stemming from the fact that her boyfriend and colleague who proposed to her just before the flight which lasted 5 and a half years had married her best friend. And then there’s her elder brother, his son suffering from cancer who is a twin, a Doc who is a cancer research specialist and others passengers who were all on Montego Air Flight 828 and have to deal with the aftermath of the mystery together. Bear in mind the passengers didn’t age a day, and what appeared to be 5 and half years to the outside world was just a regular flight, but for the turbulence that was experienced during the trip.
In the third episode, the plot thickens and more unexplainable events take place, forcing the office of the NSA to take even keener interest in the case. In the first and second episode the NSA made clear its interest in the case because it pertained to National Security. This was so because there still was no explanation whatsoever for what happened or caused the flight to disappear, only to reappear five and a half years later like nothing happened.
One of the best things about this show is it’s unpredictability. So far story line is intriguing and I’ve hardly been able to pin point the direction which is what makes it a great show. The passengers have started to exhibit a bit of supernatural ability, but even this theme is not so easy to figure out. Just when you think you can guess how a theme or angle will be explored, youre led to a different direction that unfolds even more mystery that leaves more questions than answers. I commend the ingenousness of the show’s writers and I definitely think this show is very promising.
I have tried not give too much away, for you to enjoy all the twists and turns of the show when you start to watch. So if you’re looking for something fresh, different and intriguing show to watch, I recommend Manifest. Even more, the show has aired just three episodes of its first season so there isn’t much to catch up on to be current.
New episodes air on Mondays and can be streamed or downloaded on line.
