Ex-Commisioner Arrested For Defiling 15-Year-Old Girl, Damaging Her Uterus
An ex-Commissioner has been arrested for defiling 15-year-old girl, who he allegedly lured into an illicit relationship while dating her mother.
The ex-Commissioner for Information in Cross River State who was also former Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council, Mr. Edet Okon Asim, has been defiling the 15-year-old girl for three years running, and his relationship with her reportedly witnessed two previous abortions.
However the third abortion which was done which her mother whose name was simply given as Mrs. Stella knew of, allegedly damaged her uterus, a development that has brought the matter into public glare.
Asim’s mistress who allegedly consented to the relationship between him and her daughter, has also been arrested and a friend who pleaded anonymity, said that Mrs. Stella was married to a popular Calabar-based pastor, now late, who was a good friend to Asim and had two children for the deceased clergyman.
“The first one (girl) happened to be the victim while the second is a boy. Not long after the pastor died, Ms Stella was believed to have gone into relationship with Mr. Asim whom she called her “Destiny Saver”.
“The victim’s mother, who is said to be a caterer, maintains apartments in Uyo, and Calabar where the victim stays and attends the Federal Government Girls’ College, Calabar,” she added.
“The mother had reportedly been warning her daughter against opening up on the matter and collaborated with the suspect in the serial abuse.
“And after the third abortion had been carried out by a quack, her womb became perforated. The girl’s teacher, whose name was shielded, was said to have found out and shared the story on a WhatsApp page where human rights activist and the founder of Project Alert, a non-governmental organization, which specialises in handling such cases, Mrs. Josephine Chukwuma, is a subscriber” he said.
Vanguard also learned that the victim, who is a student of the Federal Government Girls College, Calabar, was reportedly cautioned by her mother not to tell anyone. However Chukwuma was said to have swung into action and contacted the Basic Rights Council Initiative founded by child rights activist, Barrister James Ibor, which also informed the police and this led to the arrest of Mr. Asim and Ms. Stella.
