Cardi B has admitted she used to drug and rob men when she was a stripper.

Just hours after an old Instagram Live video resurfaced of her ranting about how she would trick men into coming back to hotels with her and steal from them, the 26-year-old rapper posted a message to Instagram to explain she did it to survive.

She wrote:

‘So I’m seeing on social media that a live I did 3 years ago has popped back up. A live where I talked about things I had to do in my past right or wrong that I felt I needed to go to make a living. I never claim to be perfect of come from a perfect world wit a perfect past I always speak my truth I always own my s***.

The Please Me hitmaker explained that like a lot of other hip hop artists she did things in her past that she’s not proud of.

‘Im apart of a hip hop culture where you can talk about where you come from talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are. There are rappers that glorify murder violence drugs an robbing. Crimes they feel they had to do to survive.

She continued,

‘I never glorified the things I brought up in my music because I’m not proud of it and feel a responsibility not to glorify it. I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options. I was blessed to have been able to rise from that but so many women have not. Whether or not they were poor choices at the time I did what I had to do to survive. The men I spoke about in my live were men that I dated that I was involve with men that were conscious willing and aware. I have a past that i can’t change we all do.’

The alarming Instagram video, shows Cardi recalling a time when she would drug and rob men during her years working at gentlemen’s clubs.

Cardi ranted: ‘I had to go strip, I had to go, “Oh yeah, you want to f**k me? Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s go back to this hotel,” and I drugged n***as up, and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do.’

She recorded the tearful rant in an effort to defend herself after trolls questioned whether she deserves the fame she has.

The video shows her insisting that she has always worked hard and never had anything handed to her on a plate.

‘For a b***h to say that I don’t f***ing deserve it because I don’t put in enough f***ing work, I did it myself, the s***t that I did, to motherf***in’ survive,’

Not long after the clip emerged the Bodak Yellow hitmaker was hit with backlash from social media users shocked at the implications of what she was saying.

The hashtag #SurvivingCardiB started trending – a play on the R Kelly docu-series which the R&B star was accused of multiple women and associates of sexually abusing women.

One person tweeted:

‘I just don’t understand how she can get away with ALL these crimes she did. Really disgusting. Really sad. #survivingcardib

‘why isn’t anyone talking about #CardiB and her drugging men then robbing them… like if this were a man for example… this would be a different story. waiting for #survivingcardib’

This comes after Cardi faced criticism for trying to trademark her catchphrase ‘Okurr’ – which she did not come up with – and has been in use for several years.

It was reported that the rapper was planning to use it on a range of merchandise including T-shirts, paper cups and posters.

'While I'm still here I'm gonna secure all the f***ing bags,'
