“How Women Do What They Do Is Beyond Comprehension”- Beaming Prince Harry Says As He Announces Birth Of Son

The Duchess of Sussex has given birth to a healthy baby boy today, prompting the newborn’s proud father Prince Harry to gush that the ‘little thing is absolutely to-die-for’.

Meghan went into labour in the early hours of this morning and gave birth at 5.26am to a boy weighing 7lbs 3oz, having been more than a week overdue.

Speaking from Windsor, a visibly-excited Prince Harry shared his immense pride as he joked of getting just two hours’ sleep last night, before calling the birth ‘the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined’, adding that ‘how women do what they do is beyond comprehension’.

In a statement shortly after the birth was announced, Buckingham Palace said Meghan and her baby were ‘both doing well’, and that the Queen and other members of the royal family were ‘delighted’ with the news.

‘I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning, a very healthy boy. Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.

‘How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there. It’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.’

Asked if they had any names yet, he said:

‘Still thinking about names. The baby is a little bit overdue, so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it.

‘That’s the next bit, but for us I think we will be seeing you guys in probably two days’ time as planned as a family to be able to share it with you guys and so everyone can see the baby.’

Asked what it was like to be present for the birth, he laughed and said:

‘I haven’t been at many births. This is definitely my first birth. It was amazing, absolutely incredible, and, as I said, I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.

‘As every father and parent will ever say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to-die-for, so I’m just over the moon.’

‘MODERN MONARCHY’
Unlike Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Kate, who posed for massed photographers outside a London hospital just hours after their three children were born, Harry and Meghan are expected to take part in only a limited photo call in the grounds of Windsor Castle, within a few days of the birth.

For some the child’s birth will represent a significant moment for the monarchy, becoming the first mixed race baby born into a senior position in British royalty, according to royal experts.

“It’s symbolic of a more modern monarchy. It appeals to people across the world,” royal biographer Claudia Joseph told Reuters. “They will be able to identify with the royal family as never before.”

Others note however that Meghan, whose mother is African-American and father is white, has been the target of racist commentary on social media.
